Frequently Asked Questions

Unlike a lot of other therapists, the sessions are interactive and there is a bit of fun. You won’t be lying down on the couch all that much either and your treatment is tailored specifically to you.

I assess at a much deeper level. To find out WHY the pain is there and WHY it is all happening. 

To a neurological level by looking at how and the quality of the sensory information the brain receives and it’s impact on how it recruits the muscles and joints.

The aim is to get you back to how you were in the fastest time possible. The faster this is achieved, the more you can be out there and enjoy your life.

The sessions are very interactive and not only will you get a full break down of the exact patterns your body is using to compensate around the original injury, but more importantly, that you to look forward to the sessions, enjoy them, see and feel the progress happening before your very eyes.

Conventionally, last thing you (or anyone ) really wants is to see me or any other therapist (yes, it is an investment in you, your health and your future) is that they are boring and a chore.

If you are open minded, proactive and committed to taking ownership to help yourself, we will be a good match.

 
What do the sessions involve?

Initially, majority of the time is spent on your current symptoms and history. 

This gives me an indication as to what is going on right now and what has gone on previously that has led to your body compensating and leading to today’s symptoms.

This is the stage where we map out all the events and potential causes of the issue.

I’ll look at how your body functions- static standing postures, specific postures related to your pain and to job and sports, through to movement. This includes walking, daily movements and even athletic movements.

Treatment wise, it depends on what we find and what is the highest priority requiring treatment. Many cases the area where the pain is will not be the main area of treatment.

Some of the commonly used modalities and approaches I use in both the assessments and treatments are:

Functional Neurology- Looking at how your nervous system works with the signals to and from the brain.

Eye work- How the eyes take in visual information, movements, etc can affect how the body functions and pain. Full eye movement and coordination mapping out from my background as an Orthoptist and hold active state registration.

Cranial Therapy- Balancing out tightness and dysfunctions in the muscles and joints of the skull 

Movement Therapy- This ranges from gait/ walking assessment and correctives through to developmental movements (regressed movement patterns such as crawling and rolling).

Throughout the sessions we recheck the work to review the progress made.

In majority of cases, there will be short self care exercises to help with speeding up the process.

 

What should I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing that you can move around in. Generally gym/ workout wear is what majority of clients prefer. All sessions and treatments are undertaken fully clothed.
How long does it take to feel and move better?
Majority of clients feel noticeable improvement within the first session. It does depend on the complexity of the case and the level of information provided by the client. The more information we have to work with, the faster the progress can be made
How long do the results last?
This depends on what caused the problem in the first place, the quality of the information provided leading to the depth of work we do. The closer we get to the cause, the longer lasting the results are.

At times there may be self care exercises to help with faster progression, especially if it is a postural habit or a repetitive movement issue.

What if it doesn’t work?
We have not one, but 2 safety nets for you. Out ‘Put your money where your mouth is’ guarantee and ‘we got your back’ warranty. Generally, we know within that first session whether what we do can help you and you also know whether we are the best people to help you.

If in that first session we can’t help you, we’ll let you know and part ways and a full refund. We’re not fans of stringing you along and giving false hope that the next session will be the one.

If it isn’t?

It won’t hold and will unravel. If that’s the case, we know immediately and can change our approach to help you.

Do I need time out to rest after the treatments?
This depends on the individual, how long the issue has been there and the depth of the corrective work.

Some require a bit of a rest to recover. others , are happy to continue with their day

Cancellation/ Rescheduling
Minimum 24 hours cancellation policy. If fail to attend or cancellation within 24 hours, the session will be charged.
Do you take insurance?
Majority of our work is self paying clients.

We are linked to a few health insurance schemes. Current providers are Sovereign Health and HealthShield.

We do not offer medical report write ups.

Let’s face it. You’ve seen a lot of people already and invested a tonne of time, money and tears. But other than a dry bank account and whoever you saw driving a new Audi Q7, there isn’t much to show for it.

We’re more results based. The proof is in the pudding. If we cannot help you (it may not be 100%, but certainly a significant noticeable improvement) in that first session, we don’t continue and offer you a full refund.
